This has included numerous passages up and down the east coast of Australia, over twenty crossings of bass strait, a return trip to Lord Howe Island, deliveries to or from Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Guam, Japan and extended periods of sailing through the Mediterranean waters of Croatia,
This has included numerous passages up and down the east coast of Australia, over twenty crossings of bass strait, a return trip to Lord Howe Island, deliveries to or from Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Guam, Japan and extended periods of sailing through the Mediterranean waters of Croatia, Greece, Italy, Malta & Spain. He competed in the 74th Sydney to Hobart yacht race ,the 94th Around Bruny Island Race and has participated in three previous Hamilton Island race week and one Sail Port Stephens regatta.
Mark previously had a 20 year long career in law enforcement with NSW Police, United Nations and Australian Federal Police. He currently manages the Anchorage marina in Port Stephens - New South Wales. He has owned five of his own vessels including his current passion; SV Ishmael a 20m gaff rigged schooner that participated in the 2023 Australian Wooden Boat Festival.

Barry is an Australian Maritime safety Authority (AMSA) commercially endorsed master of vessels up to 24m, a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) qualified Yacht Master and an Australian Sailing Instructor. Previously a research scientist with the Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), he has worked on research, fishing, other commercial and recreational vessels for over 40 years, operating in areas as diverse as Antarctica, across all Australian waters, New Zealand, Hawaii, New Caledonia and the Caribbean. More recently, he has accrued over 40,000 nautical miles as skipper or crew of a variety of sailing vessels in Australian waters including deliveries along the east Australian coast and is active in the local Tasmanian sailing and offshore racing scene. He has competed in four Sydney to Hobart Yacht races, three Launceston to Hobart races and in a variety of coastal races and regattas including several Hamilton Island Race Weeks.

He holds an AMSA master of vessels up to 24m and Marine Engine Driver (MED II) certifications. He has accrued over 100,000 nautical miles of sea time, conducted more than 120 professional delivery trips on a range of vessel types. This includes numerous passages up and down the east coast of Australia, deliveries to New Caledonia, New Zealand and Fiji, along with extended periods of captaining charter vessels in Cairns, Queensland.
